Scripture is the inspired and authoritative word of God. (II Tim. 3:16), and with this attitude toward the written revelation, the following basics will be upheld and taught as truth.

  1. There is a personal, infinite, omnipotent, omnipresent, holy, just, loving God, Creator of all, who is three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. "All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made." (John 1:3; Rev. 1:8, 4:11, & 15:4; Ps. 66:1-3, 139:6, & 147:17; I John 4:8; Gen. 1-2; John 1:1-18 & 14:16-17; Acts 5:1-4; Isaiah 45:18; II Cor. 3:17; Mal. 3:6)
  2. We are each guilty of sin in the presence of a Holy God. (Romans 3:23)
  3. Jesus is Christ, the Son of God, the expected Old Testament Messiah. He came in time, space and history, was born of a virgin, taught, performed miracles, and lived a sinless life. He was crucified, died and was buried. On the third day He rose from the dead in godly form as a man's ransom from sin and death. After forty days He spoke a command to His followers to tell the world about Him. He then ascended into heaven. (Luke 4:18-21, 1:30-35, & 2:16; Matt. 5:17; I John 3:5; John 19-20; I Cor. 15:3-4; Romans 6:23; I Tim. 2:6)
  4. On Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descended, imparting power and gifts to all Jesus' followers. This same power is available to us today, given to the members of Christ's body according to God's grace for the work of the ministry and for the upbuilding, encouragement, and edification of the body. (John 14:16-17; Acts 2; Heb. 13:8; Romans 11:29 & 12:6; I Cor. 12:7; Eph.4:11-12)
  5. Redemption and eternal life are accessible to all men by repentance and faith in the atoning work of Christ alone. Through this repentance and faith, the fullness of God in three persons dwells within the heart of the believer. (Titus 3:5-7; Romans 10:9-10; Mark 1:15; John 3:5-6, 14:16-17 & 14:23)
  6. God continually reveals Himself to us through His Word, prayer, each other, the world around us, the signs of the times, and the events of our lives. Awareness of this revelation enables us to determine His will for our lives.
  7. This same Jesus is coming again to judge wickedness and to reign in righteousness and peace forever. (Rev. 1:7 & 22:1-5; Acts 1:11)
  8. Scripture is true; it is unchanging and it is complete. (Rev. 22:18-19)
