The Good Shepherd School has been serving the community for over 30 years as an example of excellence in Christian schooling. The school grew out of a prayer meeting in March of 1976. The founding group of seven women wanted a school where Jesus would be an integral part of their children’s day, and God’s Word would be truth. Their desire was to create a school that would strive to develop the whole child – spiritually, academically, emotionally, creatively and physically – into a person with a love for God, a healthy self-image, and compassion for others. Their hope was that Good Shepherd School would provide the best possible, well-rounded education with the academic excellence essential in a complex world. In September 1976 the kindergarten opened and in the fall of 1979 Good Shepherd School grew to offer preschool through 8th grade, accommodating sixty-nine students that first year. In 2005, Good Shepherd School expanded to include a high school program that is rooted in the same values that have embodied Good Shepherd School for the past 30 years. Today, Good Shepherd School continues to exemplify the values of its founders as the school grows and develops young leaders. We are a thriving school in the Barrington community that is committed to equip students to integrate faith, learning, and life. |
